Local Community and Neighbourhood Engagement

St Andrew's opens its doors to the neighbourhood for a Coffee Morning at 10:30 on the first Saturday of the month. A local councillor joins us for a councillor's surgery if there are any local issues you want to discuss.

St Andrew's supports Wyke Foodbank.

The local community choir, Oakenshaw Community Choir, rehearse in our premises on Monday evenings. Often they are looking out for others to join them. They sing at a couple of events/concerts a year as well as our Carol Service. And West Yorkshire Brass band also rehearse in our premises and provide a couple of concerts so we can raise church funds, as well as playing for us in our Carol Service, which this year is at 4pm on Sunday 22nd December.

We have held spring fayres and table top sales, but times change and we do not see the value of continuing these at present.

We have been a centre for the community in the past and will continue to make our premises available, not only to St Andrew's Pre-School Playgroup but the quarterly Residents Association meetings and other occasional events such as Remembrance Comemorations, Displays and Breakfasts that accompany Neighbourhood litter pick events and the like.
