Welcome to St Andrew's

Stop Press: Services in church cancelled for the time being due to lockdown
A short service is held at 11 am. Sometimes it is Holy Communion. Because of social distancing we are capable of holding a very small congregation but there is room for more at the moment if you want to join us. We doubt we will have to turn people away. Remember to bring a face mask.
Ian Jennings, the vicar, will continue to post a video on this webiste for each Sunday morning in place of a sermon for those who do not wish to attend corporate worship
Even when we cannot make a church service we can continue to pray and continue to worship. There are so many wonderful worship clips on YouTube and elsewhere. Contemporary worship favourites include: Way Maker, Goodness of God. Many of us like songs from Bethel, Hillsongs, New Wine, Worship Central as well as Taize.
We also read the bible daily using reading plans, knowing that God speaks not only nourishes us but speaks to our present situations - awesome!
Recommended Bible plans : 1. any from the YouVersion Bible App:
https://www.youversion.com/the-bible-app/. Get it! It's free and ad free.
or 2. Bible in One Year - another app: https://www.bibleinoneyear.org/ Also free and ad free.

Welcome to St Andrew's Oakenshaw

We are a small community of people who know that God's love is real, or are finding that out. We would like the whole of Oakenshaw to discover God's love and power too.
We are delighted to welcome new people. St Andrew's hopes that you meet Jesus in the worship and grow in your faith. There is nothing more valuable to us than this: to enjoy God’s closeness, his presence. We love God and want to know Jesus more.
Jesus loves us and can rescue us. He can fill us with the Holy Spirit and joy, and we can change as we get to know Jesus better.
Jesus’ love and power is real and can change lives and communities. We live for this.

 We are a part of the Church of England and have two types of service;
We have a standard service  that leaves space for spontaneity and uses contemporary music alongside familiar hymns at 10:30 on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, and we have another service called Breakfast Church which is very informal and designed with families with young children in mind, starting with breakfast at 9 am (worship at 9:30) on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

At present there are no other services in the week at St Andrew's but we are in a a benefice and have a sister church, Holy Trinity, Low Moor, that runs a midweek service on Wednesdays at 10 am, and has provision for children every week of the month at 9:30.
The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has annointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour"
