.At present we are holding short service at 11 am, but on the first Sunday of the month it is at 9 am and if there are five Sundays, the fifth Sunday is a joint service mostly likely at our sister church, Holy Trinity, Low Moor. Sometimes the services are Holy Communion. Remember to bring a face mask.
Our next service on 25th July is a joint service at Holy Trinity, Low Moor - part of our Reflect and Rejoice weekend as we come out of Covid.
Welcome to St Andrew's Oakenshaw
We are a small community of people who know that God's love is real, or are finding that out. We would like the whole of Oakenshaw to discover God's love and power too.
We are delighted to welcome new people. St Andrew's hopes that you meet Jesus in the worship and grow in your faith. There is nothing more valuable to us than this: to enjoy God’s closeness, his presence. We love God and want to know Jesus more.
Jesus loves us and can rescue us. He can fill us with the Holy Spirit and joy, and we can change as we get to know Jesus better.
Jesus’ love and power is real and can change lives and communities. We live for this.
We are a part of the Church of England and have two types of service;
We have a standard service that leaves space for spontaneity and uses contemporary music alongside familiar hymns at 11am on the 2nd,, 3rd and 4th Sundays of the month, and we have another service called Breakfast Church which is very informal and designed with families with young children in mind, starting with breakfast at 8;30 am (worship at 9:0) on the 1st Sunday of the month.
At present there are no other services in the week at St Andrew's but we are in a a benefice and have a sister church, Holy Trinity, Low Moor, that runs a midweek service on Wednesdays at 10 am, and has provision for children every week of the month at 9:30.
The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has annointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour"
